Making Money From Your Cell Phone
Ok folks, let's get this gravy train rolling! Why is this a cheap startup business? Because we are going to start by making money from your cell phone and work from home! So, What is this business I'm talking about? Roadside Assistance of course!
I know your thinking "how in the hell am I going to make money from my phone doing Roadside? I don't even know how to change a tire!" Well, the truth is you don't have to do any physical labor at all to be successful in this field and I'm going to show you how! The business plan I'm about to lay out for you is very versatile as well. You really have three options on how you want to run it because you are your own boss and you call the shots. Option #1: You are a stay at home mom or dad and need your freedom and run the business from home without getting your hands dirty. ( I will get into more detail on this in my next post ) Option #2 : You are hands-on and run every call yourself and are in the field every day busting your butt. You pick and choose which jobs you take and the jobs you cant get to you subcontract them out to someone else and take a small cut from each job they complete. ( this was the route I took) So now your thinking " how is this a low-cost start-up business if I have to buy a tow truck and pay for expensive tools and hire people?!? " Well when I first started out I had a choice of the services I wanted to offer and I can tell you that towing vehicles all day was not something I wanted to tackle. I like to keep things simple around here, so I chose to strictly do soft services only. Which is, light-duty tire changes, fuel deliveries, jump starts and vehicle lockouts. I also didn't want to pay a lot for gas running around in a truck so I ran roadside calls out of a Honda civic and all my tools were in the trunk! The beauty of this is you don't have to get out in the field at all if you don't want to. There are plenty of days when I don't feel like getting out there so instead I choose to sit at home and dispatch my drivers while I eat pizza and watch football. Now that I have your hamster wheel turning a little bit, stay tuned in to my blog and we will go over the following: Dispatching the jobs, tools needed, the true cost of the startup, insurance, training on being an emergency locksmith for home and auto, and subcontracting well qualified 1099 workers to keep your new business ruining smoothly while you enjoy your sons t-ball game. |
Dual Income Business
Today we will be continuing a short description of our overall business plan. Once you have a better understanding of what you will be doing then we will get into more detail and I will train you in every aspect of the business in our Members Dashboard. Really there are two sides to the business and you will have two streams of revenue. They are the Roadside Assistance portion and the emergency locksmith portion. You can choose to do only one side and still make good money or you can choose to do both. I chose both so I could have two revenue streams. I will explain the differences below
Part 1 of the business - Roadside Assistance - customers that are covered by insurance This should be the first route you take because there is no advertising needed, you can get your phone ringing and have the then focus on the other side of the business. The just of it is this, you will be a 1099 independent contractor and you will agree to a set contracted rate that you will receive per job completed. You will not need to collect any money from the member at the time of the job but the insurance company will pay you via direct deposit each week. These jobs depending on your contracted rates will pay anywhere from $25.00 to $35.00 per call plus $1.50 to $2.50 per mile ( my next post will be on subcontracting 1099 workers to run these calls or you can be a one man army.) Doing both will give you a nice balance so you still have time to grow your business. ** Note that this is just a brief rundown of the business and I will get into deep detail about each portion in later post ** Part 2 of the business - Emergency Lockout Service - customers that are not covered by insurance This portion of the business is where the real money is made but you will need to advertise yourself. These unlock jobs that you land will be from your efforts. I like to call them "cash calls" The pay for these jobs are a lot better than the roadside portion and you can charge anywhere from $60 to $150 per vehicle unlock. So now that you have a general idea of how things work I will break down each section into fine detail throughout my blog. We will be doing a lot of training with how to videos attached, from the business side to the actual labor you will be performing. |
Stay At Home Dispatcher
Alright, now that we have the sections of the business split up we will drive into the world of roadside assistance and then later dump some gasoline on the emergency unlock service portion of it.
Let's start with all you moms and dads out there that are just interested in working from home because you're just to busy to learn a new trade and would like to be the brains behind the brawn. While to is always good to get out in the field to truly know your business, it is still possible to make money at this without getting out there and that's by becoming a dispatcher from home! So let's assume I have already given you my special list of companies that you will be contracted with, you fill out all the applications and are awaiting approval. The very next thing you're going to want to do is hired the right people! Now when I say "hire" remember you are now a 1099 independent contractor and you are only paid per job completed. So what your going to do is SUB-SUB contract some HELP. You are not actually hiring them but you are contracting out the jobs to them. Except all of the money goes through you and you pay them a cut every week AFTER you are already paid. ( you will be mailing them a 1099 form at the end of each year ) Yes, your a middleman so embrace it and own it. ** Reminder, the jobs your driver will be performing are Light duty tire changes, jump starts, fuel delivery and vehicle lockouts ** Next, you will recruit people that have roadside assistance experience and preferably have their own tools. Believe me, there are plenty of 1099 workers out there that will hop all over this GIG. I say gig because again you are not actually hiring them, nor can you fire them. If they do not end up being a good fit then you simply stop giving them jobs, it's that easy. Once you are done reading my entire blog you will know every nook and cranny of this business model and then can make an educated decision if you want to pursue it. But until then keep reading and I will dive into getting the right people on your team. Its all about the people......people |
Recruiting Independent Contractors
Good evening ladies and gents! Let's keep things moving and get ready for the phone to ring. I'm a firm believer that it's all about the people that you recruit on your team. Finding a quality 1099 worker that has experience in roadside is KEY! Now I have trained people from the ground up on this but it is much easier to find someone who already has the experience and believe me they are out there so don't settle. I will show you an example of an ad that I made to hire on the right drivers and my inbox was flooded! I then weeded out the wannabes and found myself some all-stars that are the face of my business. Remember these will be the guys on the front line servicing the customers every day so choose wisely!

Quick Tips - Get Paid Double!
Adding an additional service onto an existing job
Remember whenever you need to add a additional service, simply call the customer service rep ( dispatch center ) and have them add it on so you get paid double! Example: You preform a lockout and the member also needs a jump start. Negotiating a Add-on for late night calls Regarding contracted roadside calls Remember after normal business hours you can Negotiate. At the time of dispatch tell the customer service rep you want a $50.00 Add on. ( this would be a additional $50 added on top of your contracted rates! ) They may say they have to call around first but 75% of the time they will call you back and give you a extra $50.00 Oh the beauty of supply and demand! |
Extra money with potential Side Jobs - Run Roadside
While doing roadside assistance there will be times when you can make extra money by providing a service that the customer is not covered for. Whenever you provide this service you will be able to quote the customer the cost of your labor and they will need to pay you out of their own pocket. Remember the customer will be covered for the following.
Jump Starts - Fuel Delivery - Auto Lockouts - Tire Change - Towing Below is a list of services that you will come across that you can charge them for. You are the boss so you will set your own rates and choose IF you would like to help them with a particular service. Battery installation - antifreeze deliver - oil delivery - a ride - starter replacement - alternator replacement - key make - any kind of mechanic work and any other kind of service they are not covered for. Set your own rates or you even subcontract these jobs out to others and still take a cut of the profit for providing them with the lead. |
